We do not request in any way personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade-union membership; someone’s sex life; genetic or biometric data; or data concerning health. We invite anyone using our Services (whether as a Professional, as a Reference, or as an Employer) to refrain from requesting and/or sharing with Terefic any sensitive data about themselves or other individuals.
The personal data we collect or process are justified, permitted by law, and limited to what is necessary for us:
We collect personal information from you directly, from your References, and/or from Prospect Employers:
You can see and manage your personal identifiers (i.e., name, email, picture, and preferred pronoun) and your background information from your Account Settings.
We bring together all of your references into a digital dashboard so that you can conveniently manage your portfolio of references. Use your Reference Manager to add, select, unselect, or delete references.
When you use our web application, we create for you a Terefic protected page that you can use to share your strongest references with Prospective Employers. Visitors have to identify themselves with their email to have access. You grant and revoke access to your Terefic protected page from your Employer dashboard.
If you choose to close your Terefic account, the Terefic protected page we create for you to share your references with others will immediately become invalid. We will further permanently erase your personal information from our system within 30 days of account closure, except as noted below. Your information will then no longer be visible on the portal we provide to Employers to collect, manage, and keep track of your references.
We might retain your personal data even after you have closed your account if reasonably necessary to comply with our legal obligations (including law enforcement requests), meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse (e.g., if we have restricted your account for breach of our Terms & Conditions), or fulfill your request to "unsubscribe" from further messages from us. We will retain de-personalized information after your account has been closed.
We cannot recall the emails that have already been sent to your References and Prospect Employers. We do not control data that others have downloaded in PDF format or copied out from our web application.

Terefic ensures that appropriate technical and organizational security measures are taken against unlawful or unauthorized processing of the data we collect, and against the misuse, destruction, disclosure, acquisition, accidental loss of, or damage to those data.
We use commercially reasonable technical, administrative, and physical controls best practices to protect your personal information including data encryption where appropriate; however, since the internet is not a 100% secure environment, we are not immune from potential attacks. Accordingly, you acknowledge that when you provide such personal information, you do so at your own risk.

You agree that by clicking “Agree & Join”, “Join Terefic”, “Sign Up” or similar, registering, accessing or using our Services (described below), you are agreeing to enter into a legally binding contract with Terefic, Inc. (even if you are using our Services on behalf of a company). If you do not agree to this contract (“Contract”) do not click “Agree & Join” (or similar) and do not access or otherwise use any of our Services. If you wish to terminate this contract, at any time you can do so by closing your account and no longer accessing or using our Services.

We may modify this Contract, our Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes to it, we will provide you notice through our Services, or by other means, to provide you the opportunity to review the changes before they become effective. We agree that changes cannot be retroactive. If you object to any changes, you may close your account. Your continued use of our Services after we publish or send a notice about our changes to these terms means that you are consenting to the updated terms as of their effective date.
To use the Services, you agree that: (1) you must be 16 years old or older; (2) you are not a competitor that provides reference checking services, and (3) you are not already restricted by Terefic from using the Services. Creating an account with false information is a violation of our terms, including accounts registered on behalf of others or persons under the age of 16.
Note that if law requires that you must be older in order for Terefic to lawfully provide the Services to you without parental consent (including using of your personal data) then the law prevails and the minimum age to use our Services becomes such older age.
If you hold a Terefic account, you agree to: (1) use a strong password and keep it confidential; and (2) follow the law and our list of Dos and Don’ts below. You are responsible for anything that happens through your account unless you report misuse.
We offer three portals to our users to protect the confidentiality of your activity on each one:
Your “Job-Seeker” account belongs to you and you only. We recommend that you use your personal email address to register and sign into your account. Nobody else has access.
Your “Employer” and/or “Staffing Firm” accounts belong to you. However, if the Services were purchased by another party for you to use (e.g. user seat bought by your employer or staffing firm), the party paying for such Service has the right to control access to and get reports on your use of such paid Service.

You may view and download information and graphics incorporated in the Site subject to the following: (a) the content may be used solely for professional, informational, non-commercial purposes; and (b) the content may not be modified or altered in anyway. By submitting suggestions or other feedback regarding our Services to Terefic, you agree that we can use and share (but does not have to) such feedback for any purpose without compensation to you.
Terefic reserves the right to limit your use of the Services, including the number of your references and your ability to share your references with others. Terefic reserves the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate your account if you breach this Contract or the law or are misusing the Services (e.g., violating any of the Dos and Don’ts).
Terefic reserves all of its intellectual property rights in the Services. Trademarks and logos used in connection with the Services are the trademarks of their respective owners. Terefic, and “blue star” logos, “verified references” badge, and other Terefic trademarks, service marks, graphics and logos used for our Services are trademarks or registered trademarks of Terefic.
When you use our Site, you recognize our innovative approach to reference checking and the continuous improvement of our proprietary technology. You agree that during the usage of our Site, during the term of this Contract and for eighteen (18) months after termination, you will not develop or market any website that copies or duplicates the Terefic Site functionality.
TEREFIC MAKES NO REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY ABOUT THE SERVICES, INCLUDING ANY REPRESENTATION THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, IMMUNE AGAINST CYBER ATTACKS, OR ERROR-FREE, AND PROVIDE THE SERVICES (INCLUDING CONTENT AND INFORMATION) ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS. If the court cannot do that, you and we agree to ask the court to remove that unenforceable part and still enforce the rest of this Contract.
If we don't act to enforce a breach of this Contract, that does not mean that Terefic has waived its right to enforce this Contract. You agree that the only way to provide us legal notice is at the addresses provided in Section 8.
